What is ECU testing?
Our ECU testing facilities allow us to pin point the faults that lie behind the ECU failure if indeed there is one. We would carry out varies tests and assessments to ensure the units operation meets the OEM requirements.
Why does an ECU fail?
An ECU can fail for various reasons and its not as simple as it may sound. ECU’s have circuits that operate various parts of the vehicles. Communication faults generally would be the symptoms of an issue with the unit, faults would typically be a voltage spike or water ingress causing a burn out of the units PCB.
Has my AdBlue Pump failed?
Adblue pump failures are very common in commercial vehicle and public transport sectors. Failures in the main come from a lack of maintenance of the systems, lack of maintenance can cause crystallisation issues which also lead to the system not operating correctly. Other failures can range from communication faults, Oil, coolant or fuel contamination, blowing fuses, water Ingress, various intermittent faults, various sensor faults, fault codes In units, connector and pin damaged.
How much do AdBlue Pumps cost?
Adblue pump costs can range dependant on what’s requested from the unit its self. If we a traditionally pumping unit the costs are lower than that of a unit that is programmed specifically to the vehicles chassis.
Where are AdBlue Pumps located?
Pumps on a bus/coach would be located at the rear of the vehicle close to the exhaust system and in contrast to a truck these would be located on the chassis of the tractor unit toward the second axle close enough to the exhaust system.
How do I know if my NOx Sensor has failed?
Typical NOx sensor failure symptoms would be identified with a warning (MIL) light and diagnostic tool plug in. Other symptoms of failure could be voltage spikes or vehicles entering a de-rate mode.
Can NOx Sensors be cleaned?
NOx sensors probes cannot be cleaned effectively enough to allow reuse of them although it doesn’t stop people from trying, it isn’t recommended.
Are all NOx Sensors under emissions warranty?
Typically the NOx sensors are covered under vehicle manufacturers warranty or parts warranty if the product has been purchased in the aftermarket.
Are all NOx Sensors the same?
No, all NOx sensors are not the same, the fundamental product material in terms of a probe, body and PBC are the same. However, the programming and parameters set by the OEM is the key in differentiating the sensors from each other, not just its physical differences.
Who manufactures NOx Sensors?
Majority of the industries NOx Sensors are manufactured by Continental in collaboration with NGK.
What causes NOx Sensors to fail?
NOx sensors typically fail due to excessive carbon exposure and build up over a period of time. However there are other reasons for failure this would be the major cause of failure.
Where are NOx Sensors located?
NOx sensors are located before (Upstream) and after (Downstream) the CAT (Catalytic Converter).
What Instrument Clusters can we remanufacture?
There are a few instrument cluster manufacturers but in the main the manufacturers within our industry consist of Continental (Germany), DENSO (Japan), Magneti Marelli (Italy), Robert Bosch (Germany), Here at ATT our team have the capabilities to repair and restore these products back to OEM standard.
What is Instrument Cluster testing?
Instrument cluster testing is an instrument cluster that is placed on a test bed and checked for various signals, voltages and visual dial checks. Here at ATT, we have all those in house capabilities.
What is an Instrument Cluster?
An instrument cluster repair is a wide term and symptoms of these needing a repair can be, gauge faults, warning light faults, back light or Illumination faults, water Ingress, screen faults, CAN signal failure, audible warning fault, mechanical air gauge faults all of which can cause significant issues but these can all be repaired through our specialist remanufacturing team.
Why use Adblue?
Diesel engines are now required to meet strict NOx levels to comply with emission zone standards set out by local governments. The preferred method involves injecting a urea based chemical, more commonly named Adblue, directly into the exhaust system.
What are the common Adblue issues?
Adblue components are very susceptible to failure if misuse occurs or they are not serviced in line with manufacturers recommendations. Adblue system common failures include using out of date Adblue, cross contamination from filling stations and not following recommended service intervals.
What are the consequences of an Adblue Pump system failure?
A system failure can be very costly to an operator. Misuse of the system can cause premature failure of the dosing modules and injectors. It is integral that these units are maintained and the fluid is free from any contamination in order to allow the system to operate effectively.
How do you test Adblue units?
All products are extensively tested using state of the art specifically designed testing equipment to ensure all units meet all OE specification prior to use. Twelve months warranty is standard on all service exchange and repaired items. By using Alliance tested products and services the UK's largest fleet operators are witnessing huge expenditure savings.
What is a NOx Sensor?
The smart Nitrogen Oxide Sensor (NOx) is built to detect high levels of nitrogen oxides within the exhaust emissions of a vehicle. The sensor feeds back intelligence to the ECU of the system, this includes the NOx level measurements during a duty cycle. If the guideline parameters are not met an emissions light will appear on the vehicles instrument cluster, forcing operators to investigate and take action.
Why do NOx sensors fail?
There are a few reasons behind sensor failures, however the main reason is the condition of the vehicles engine. Regular servicing is paramount for ensuring the carbon output is as low as possible. Low carbon output reduces the likelihood of premature sensor failures due to carbon clogging of the sensor probe.
What is the benefit of regular servicing?
Regular maintenance servicing such as oil changes and valve clearance are key to ensuring longevity.
If I run my vehicle with an emissions failure what is likely to happen?
Running vehicles with emissions failures will cause unwanted attention from local authorities, therfore it is key to resolve the issues as quickly as possible and avoid prosecution.
Can I overcharge the Boost Pack? Resulting in damage to the Boost Pack or the vehicle?
No. When the pack is fully charged, the vehicle will stop charging the pack. You can also leave it on charge from the mains power outlet without any damage being caused.
With a battery pack you must change the batteries after time. Do I have to replace Capacitors?
No. Capacitors have been tried and tested to have over 1 million cycles of charging and depleting! So, they will never need replacing.
I have damaged my Boost Pack through incorrect use! Do I have to buy a replacement?
No, we have a department dedicated to Battery and Capacitor Boost Pack repairs. If this happens, please call 0114 247 7041 and press option 1.
My Boost Pack doesn’t charge from the Croc Clips and doesn’t charge from the Anderson Connector. What do I do?
In the event of this happening, please check the safety fuse hasn’t broken within the red Croc handle or in the body of the Boost Pack, due to incorrect use.
One of the safety fuses has broken! Where can I buy a new one?
We stock safety fuses on the shelf, as well as other accessories for your Boost Pack.
I want to use the Anderson Connector on my pack, but I don’t have a lead. Where can I get one?
We build, stock and sell a variety of different kinds and lengths of leads.
What Voltage should my pack charge up to when fully charged?
Our Boost Packs overcharge to 28.5V on the 24V side, and 14.5V on the 12V side. They then settle to 24.5V on the 24V side, and 12.4V on the 12V side.
How long will my pack hold charge for if I don’t use it?
The pack will hold charge for up to 2 weeks but will then start to gradually deplete. Before using your ATT Super Capacitor Boost Pack, always check the Voltage using the yellow test button. If it has completely depleted, a quick 30 second boost from your vehicle, or a 30-minute boost from a mains socket, will have you back on the road!
How long does the pack take to charge from a mains adapter?
The main benefit of Capacitors is how fast they charge! From depleted to fully recharged, it will take 30 minutes! Whereas, a conventional battery pack can take 6 – 9 hours!
Do I get warranty with my Alliance Boost Pack?
Yes! You get a 12 month warranty, which covers unit failure but NOT user error.
Can you repair a part which is not listed on your website?
We can remanufacture just about any electrical or electronic part on any bus, coach, truck, crane or plant equipment other than rotating units e.g. starter motors and alternators. We specialise in the remanufacture of:

What warranty do you offer on a remanufactured part?
At Alliance Transport Technologies we provide quality remanufactured parts with a 12-month warranty, giving you complete peace of mind.
Will my part need to be re-coded to my vehicle after it has been repaired?
Most modern ECUs, instrument clusters, adblue pumps, gearbox lids and gear selectors are coded to vehicles. When we repair your unit, as long as it is refitted to the same original vehicle, there will be no need to re-code it. Not only will you then be saving 60-70% off the price of a new unit when we repair yours, but you will also be saving up to £200 on the price of having a new unit coded to your vehicle.
Do you have a free collection service?
No we don't (currently).

Yes we have a drop in service. Bring your urgent vehicle off road (VOR) parts to us and we will do our best to repair your part whilst you wait. All we ask is that you contact us prior to visiting to ensure a suitable engineer is available. Please allow 3-4 hours for this service. This is a very popular service and is strictly first come first served. A £45.00+VAT charge may be applicable.

How long will my repair take?
We aim to complete the repairs to your unit on the same day we receive it. We pride ourselves on fast turnaround times. Day 1 - You can phone, email or fill in our online collection form and we will organise a free collection of your part from anywhere in mainland UK Day 2 - Your part will be remanufactured, tested and quality checked before being dispatched back to you. All remanufactured parts come with a full 12 month warranty. Day 3 - You receive your part to be refitted with peace of mind that you have a quality remanufactured part supplied with a 12 month warranty resulting in minimised downtime and maximised cost savings
I don’t live in the UK, can you deliver to me?
Yes. We have many customers outside of the UK and can ship anywhere. Our carriage costs vary depending on location. For an accurate quote for delivery give our parts department a call.

What if the part I require isnt on your website?
We have a number of supply chain agreements in place to ensure we offer specialist support at competitive prices. By having strong relationships with manufacturer partners it means we can supply almost any part for any vehicle, whether it be bus, coach or truck. Contact our parts department and we will see if we can source the part for you.

If the part you require is in stock and ordered before 3:30pm it will be with you the next day. In the event that the part you need is not in stock we may still be able to ship directly to you for next day delivery.
Can you attend a trailer?
Yes. Our Field Service team can carry out all types of servicing, running repairs and major breakdowns for all manufacturers of trailers. We can also undertake tail lift repairs.
What vehicles can you attend to?
Our Field Service team can assist with all engineering support. From onsite repairs to diagnostic fault finding and servicing for all manufacturers of bus, coach and HGV truck.
